Before you place a dental bridge to replace multiple teeth or a dental crown to replace one tooth, you must first receive a dental implant. This can either be a subperiosteal implant or endosteal implant. Talk to Dr. Mo Banki and our dental professionals here in Warwick, Rhode Island, about which option is best for you.
Both approved by the ADA (American Dental Association), subperiosteal and endosteal implants act as the base for a new artificial implant. Subperiosteal implants are a metal framed placed on the gums into the jawbone, often for those with a jawbone too shallow for an endosteal implant. Endosteal implants are the more common implant, installed as a cylinder, plate, or small screw. Both are made of titanium material.
After a period of time after these are placed, the healing process has happened and then the crown or bridge is installed. To maintain a healthy mouth and ensure these stay in place, be sure to brush twice and floss daily.
